The attic had the original 1965 batts, matted down to about R-9. Upstairs bedrooms couldn’t hold cool air past noon. We air-sealed the top plates, then blew Owens Corning AttiCat to R-38 across the full attic floor. The homeowner called two weeks later to say their AC finally cycled off for the first time in years. Single visit, one long morning.
Spray Foam Roof Deck in a Garden Grove Ranch with No Attic Floor
Open rafter construction, no attic access, and a home that baked like a car in a parking lot. We applied Icynene open-cell spray foam directly to the roof deck, sealing the entire thermal boundary. Ductwork ran through that space, and the homeowner had been losing conditioned air into a 140-degree void. After the foam, that void became conditioned space. Their summer cooling bill dropped by roughly a third.
Crawl Space Encapsulation with Vapor Barrier in Stanton
Dirt-floor crawl space feeding humidity into the house all year. Mold on the floor joists, musty smell in the living room, and the homeowner had been “airing out” the house every morning for a decade. We laid a 12-mil vapor barrier across the floor, sealed the vents, and wrapped the piers. The humidity in the crawl dropped below 55% within two weeks. The smell hasn’t come back.
Insulation Removal and Rodent Proofing in a Garden Grove Duplex
Rats had turned the attic into a bathroom for what looked like a year. The insulation was soaked with droppings and urine. We removed every bit of the old fiberglass, sanitized the attic deck, sealed every entry point we could find, then blew in fresh GreenFiber cellulose to R-38. The tenant said the scratching stopped the same week. The owner hasn’t had a pest-control callback since.
Radiant Barrier Under a Tile Roof in East Garden Grove
Tile roof, no shade, and an attic that radiated heat down into the ceiling all afternoon. We stapled a perforated radiant barrier to the underside of the rafters, reflecting the bulk of that radiant heat before it could reach the insulation. The attic temperature dropped by 20 degrees on a 95-degree day. The ceiling in the hallway no longer feels warm to the touch at 4 PM.
Wall Insulation Retrofit in a 1970s Stucco Home off Chapman Avenue
The walls were empty. Not under-insulated, empty. The homeowner had been running the heater all winter and the walls still felt cold to the touch. We drilled and filled each stud bay with Knauf dense-pack fiberglass, then patched and painted the access holes to match. The house now holds temperature in every room, not just the ones with the vents.
